Fibers that often score better in t-shirts
These usually rank higher when they are most of the shirt. Open a guide if you want the scoring inputs behind a single fiber.
- Organic CottonThe most common higher-scoring tee fiber in the catalog. Still read the percentage; many “cotton” tees are blends.
- CottonConventional cotton is still a plant fiber with no microplastic polymer in MaterialsDB. Organic cotton is the usual upgrade when both are on the shelf.
- LinenA plant bast fiber. Less drape than a jersey tee, and it does not shed plastic fibers.
- HempAnother plant bast fiber used in some heavier tees. Durable, and it is not a microplastic source.
- Tencel LyocellWood-pulp fiber, not cotton. Softer drape than linen, and it usually sheds less than a polyester tee.
- WoolAn animal protein fiber. Merino and wool tees exist; they are not plant fiber, and they usually score well when the shirt is not a wool-poly blend.
