A boxy shaped, hip length jacket made from cotton with a cosy cotton fleece lining and between the outer and inner layers sits the downcycled batting interlining, which not only adds ample warmth but forms a part of our closed-loop, zero waste journey. This jacket has been embellished by hand with embroidery by the Mapula arts project who are based in the Winterveld. The motifs on this jacket feature the Mapula community’s distinct story telling, capturing scenes and life in their communities. The back detail on this jacket is the most notable, honouring all mothers with a portrait of a warm and loving face and the words “mother is a verb”. The front is filled with smaller doodles capturing daily life in the Winterveld as well as playful imagery. The jacket has a flat collar and fastens down the centre front with brass popper studs. It has patch pockets on both sides. The sleeves are full length with a straight cut. The fit is boxy and relaxed.
